Scottish Tourist Board Green Tourism Award

We are not members of the Scottish Tourist Board's Green Tourism award as we feel the administration and paperwork generated, together with the fee they charge unnecessary.

Their "green tourism" is also often in conflict with their Quality Assurance Scheme (star ratings) and we feel common sense must prevail.

We have therefore listed the measures we go to to ensure we are as environmentally friendly as possible.
 

All aluminium, glass and paper is recycled.

All vegetable food waste is composted.

Breakfast tickets ensure minimal food wastage.

90% of lighting in Kinross House is low energy.

New, lower power (while on standby) TVs in all bedrooms.

South facing Solar Panels preheat mains water by 10 deg C

Boilers and pipes are very well lagged.

We have a very efficient oil fired central heating system that also heats the water tanks.

Draught free house with efficient double glazed windows.

Active use of website and internet to reduce paperwork.
